WISSOTA Tire Rules Reminder

St Augusta, MN (4/29/21) - It has been brought to the attention of the WISSOTA Board of Directors and Staff that there are currently sales people attending WISSOTA race tracks attempting to sell a tire conditioner/treatment to WISSOTA drivers.

"We would like to take this opportunity to remind the drivers that any softening, conditioning, or treating any tire is illegal," stated WISSOTA Technical Director Bill Engelstad. "The minimum penalty for illegal tires as determined by an independent and industry respected lab is a $1,000 fine and a one year suspension."

After discussing the situation with Hoosier Racing Tire representative, WISSOTA would like to remind the drivers that the only thing that should be used to clean a tire is water. All other cleaning products and methods could result in damage to the tire and a change in the tire's chemical make up. This would result in the tire being deemed illegal.

WISSOTA Auto Racing exists to enhance safe and successful dirt track racing through unified, cost effective rules and procedures enacted in a democratic environment. To find a WISSOTA Auto Racing member track near you visit wissota.org.
